There's a 2.3% chance I'm without my phone, and about a .1% chance a fox strolls across my patio. This morning both happened. This guy all but walked into my living room (and he didn't see me through four sliding glass doors. Sly as a fox my ass). I had to low-crawl to my room to get my phone, fortunately he took his time sniffing every plant.

When I was a young man the list of shit I wouldn't do was short, and most of that included drugs. Now I find myself more often running to the solitary and the quiet and great writers, even when I spend as much time looking words up as I do reading them. Or: Skip Bran Castle, with its line jumpers and scads of teenage girls and vape pens, that absolute scourge of smells. Take a nice drive in the countryside instead. Read some Cormac McCarthy.
